A bicycle rider has died after being involved in a truck accident. The rider was hit by a semitruck near Elliot Road and Priest Drive in Tempe.
Cause of Truck Accident
Tempe police spokeswoman Molly Enright said the bicyclist was traveling eastbound and riding against the flow of traffic on the north side of Elliot Road, when the collision occurred. The semi truck driver was making a right turn onto westbound Elliot from Harl Avenue. According to Enright, the truck driver did not see the bicyclist.
Victim of Truck Accident
Tempe firefighters were immediately called to the scene and provided emergency treatment at the site of the truck accident, as well as on the way to the hospital. The bicyclist did not survive. At this time the victim’s name has not been released to the public.
Driver of Truck Involved Accident
According to Enright the driver of the semitruck was not impaired. Because of this there was no cause for the driver to be cited or charged.
